UPDATE: ACCORDING TO THE COMMISSIONERS, THIS IS A PERMANENT RAISE
Geauga Public Defender Robert Umholtz must be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. His pay in 2018 was $86,807 but, according to 2019 records from the county auditor’s office, last year his salary was $136,351.
He comes in at second place for highest wages in the county, behind the terminally inept prosecutor, James Flaiz, who scores in at just over $140,638. Umholtz’s will now be the same as Flaiz’s. (By the way, there were only two criminal trials last year. Each judge had one. All other 130 bound-overs from Muni court were pled out or handled by magistrates.)
Umholtz and Flaiz are both “plead ’em out” guys. According to the records of the OH Supreme Court, there were only two (2) criminal trials last year in Geauga Common Pleas Court. Both Judge Ondrey and Paschke each had one. Anyone besides me think they are all overpaid?
Did Ulholtz acquire X-ray vision, can he stop a speeding bullet? Cure cancer? What could possibly be the reason his pay went up $49,544?
Anyone with an answer PLEASE respond.
BY THE WAY, GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO HAS TO SHOP AT ALDI’S OR WALMART.
